Hear about the first designs used in patchwork blocks. Learn why colonial women loved quilting bees and what they talked about.

The Civil War from 1860 to 1890
Hear how women on both sides raised money for the war. Discover how exciting it was when the first sewing machine was patented and the availability of the first mail-order catalogs.

The Great Depression and World War II from 1920 to 1950
 Find out why this was an exciting time for women in the 1920s, but how things changed during the depression of the 1930s. Hear how the sewing machine was modernized and about the first publication of quilt patterns in the newspaper.

The Underground Railroad
Learn how the quilts helped slaves escape to freedom in Canada.
