MyMedSchedule Demonstration by Donna Brooten
Thursday, February 6th, 2014 at 1:00 pm
Peapack & Gladstone Library
The Peapack & Gladstone Municipal Complex
1 School Street,
Peapack, NJ 07977
(908) 234-0598
Donna Brooten, Director of Client Relations for MedActionPlan.com, will be at the Peapack & Gladstone Library to demonstrate how you can create your own personal medication list or a medication list for anyone under your care using the free online tool MyMedSchedule.
MyMedSchedule is a personal medication chart that clearly shows the times you should take each medication or supplement and how much to take. It’s easy to update and can be printed in a variety of sizes and formats. Users can even have text messages sent directly to their phone reminding them when to take their pills and when to refill prescriptions. It is also useful for doctors’ appointments and hospital visits.
Anyone who wishes to attend this program is asked to come prepared with their prescriptions and dosage instructions so that they can set up a MyMedSchedule after the demonstration. (A list of prescriptions including the names and dosage instructions would also be acceptable).
Registration is required for this event and can be completed in person at the library's circulation desk, via the online calendar at http://tinyurl.com/khq5fan, by calling the library at (908) 234-0598, or emailing Adult Services Librarian Diane Hahn at dhahn@sclibnj.org.

Library Serves as a Resource during Flash Flooding
The Peapack & Gladstone Library, a branch of the Somerset County Library System (SCLS), served as a disaster-recovery area during the August 22 flash floods that affected Somerset County. Eight people, who were evacuated from homes located in low-lying Peapack & Gladstone areas, enjoyed the hospitality of the library’s staff.
The residents were able to use the library’s Wi-Fi and computers, charged cell phones and other devices, and appreciated the free beverages and refreshments supplied by the staff.
One woman, who was flooded out of her son’s Brook Street home, was celebrating her 75th birthday. The library staff serenaded her with a lively rendition of “happy birthday,” accompanied with cookie, complete with candle. Each “party guest” received a small gift bag of candy.
“We turned a bad situation into a little party,” said Melissa Banks, temporary branch director. Some of those who waited out the storm had not been in the library since they were small children. “Peapack & Gladstone residents really do appreciate their library,” added Banks.
Patrons with further questions can call SCLS at (908)234-0598 or visit the website at http://www.sclsnj.org. Healthy Food Donation Ideas at http://bit.ly/FoodPantryDonations
The next "Buy One, Bring One" food drop-off sponsored by the Somerset County Board of Freeholders will be Friday, Sept. 21.
"Local food banks and food pantries are still struggling," Freeholder Director Patricia Walsh said. "In many cases, supplies are the lowest they have ever been, while demand has increased tremendously." The program has collected more than 13,000 pounds of donations since she launched it in July 2010.
Look for the blue BOBO Fridays bins at these county locations:
* Somerset County Administration Building, 20 Grove St., Somerville
* Somerset County/Bridgewater Library, North Bridge Street & Vogt Drive, Bridgewater
* Park Commission Headquarters, 355 Milltown Road, Bridgewater
* Environmental Education Center, 190 Lord Stirling Road, Basking Ridge
* Lord Stirling Stable, 256 S. Maple Ave., Basking Ridge
Several towns have BOBO Fridays bins in their municipal buildings: Bedminster, Franklin, Green Brook, North Plainfield and Raritan.
The following county branch libraries also have BOBO Fridays bins: Bound Brook Memorial Library, Mary Jacobs Memorial Library (Rocky Hill), North Plainfield Library, Peapack-Gladstone Library, Somerville Public Library and Warren Township Library.
Canned or boxed food items are accepted. Personal-care items, including bath soap, deodorant, toothpaste, shampoo and toilet paper, also are collected since these items are not covered by food stamps. For ideas about healthy foods to donate, go to http://bit.ly/FoodPantryDonations
Although the targeted collection schedule is the third Friday of every month, the bins are available every day, so donations may be dropped off at any time during regular business hours at all locations.
