New Jersey's Heroes and Scoundrels of the Civil War: 7 PM, Thursday, October 4. When we think of the Civil War, we think of the battles, the generals and the armies, but what about the individuals, the unknowns who made up the populace, the men, the women, the civilians, the soldiers, the heroes and the scoundrels, and how where their lives “touched with fire” of the war and then changed. Learn about some fascinating characters in NJ history. Guest speaker: Rich Rosenthal, President of the North Jersey Civil War Round Table, one the largest Civil War round tables in the United States; one of the founders with New Jersey's pre-eminent historian, John T. Cunningham, of the North Jersey American Revolution Round Table and a member of the New Jersey Civil War Sesquicentennial Committee.

Humor columnist Laverne Bardy in: ”How the (bleep) did I get this old?” 2 PM, Saturday, October 6. Laverne H. Bardy’s column, Laverne’s View, appeared in Fifty Plus Monthly, a regional paper, from 1999 to 2009 and has been syndicated since 2004. She takes a humorous look at aging as she shares life experiences that inspire her writing. Her book is a compilation of her popular column which has made readers laugh for years with her firsthand experiences into the world of aging. Laverne Bardy currently blogs for The Huffington Post in the Huffington Post 50 section.
